Relax & Leave All Your Cares at the Door

At The Smile Center, we believe that dentistry should be as comfortable as possible. No matter how anxious you are about your visit with us, we’ll do our best to help you relax. You can take advantage of a warm, cozy blanket or a soft pillow to help you feel right at home. Our patient care rooms also feature ceiling-mounted TVs and headphones.

We understand, though, that some patients need a little extra help to fully relax. That’s why we offer two great dental sedation options. We’ll discuss both in detail with you so you can decide which one you’d like to use. Your options include:

  • Laughing Gas – This is our mildest form of sedation, also called inhaled sedation. After breathing in the gas through a comfortable mask, you’ll almost immediately begin to feel relaxed. The sedative may even make you slightly giddy. Pretty soon, the idea of dental work won’t bother you at all. Afterward the effects wear off quickly, and you’ll have no problem driving yourself home.
  • Oral Conscious Sedation – This sedative in pill form is perfect for patients with more severe anxiety. The easy-to-swallow pill will give you a feeling of total relaxation. You likely will have little or no memory of your procedure. Dr. John Miller has completed advanced training with the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation in order to offer this to you. He will consider your medical history, among other factors, before recommending it. A friend or family member will need to drive you home, as the pill’s effects will take a few hours to diminish.

Sit back and relax with our Georgetown sedation options. Call us today to schedule a pleasant dental experience: 843-492-5026. You can also schedule online.

Common Questions About Sedation Options

Does sedation dentistry work for patients?

Yes, we offer two levels of sedation dentistry that will calm the fear and anxiety of any patient. We’ll discuss both types of sedation in detail and help you decide on the one that will work best for your procedure. Our goal is to provide you with pain-free, anxiety-free care every time you visit our office. Our sedation options help make sure that happens.

What sedation options work for me?

At The Smile Center, we’re proud to offer you two safe dental sedation options. You can choose between inhaled sedation with laughing gas or oral conscious sedation using a small pill. Either one will work great when it comes to eliminating your dental anxiety. We’ll help you determine which one is right for you.

Are your sedation options safe?

Yes, we only use safe, time-tested sedation options at The Smile Center. In fact, laughing gas is so mild and gentle, it is even safe to use for kids. Our oral sedation uses only medications that are approved by the FDA. It is a reliable and predictable way to help nervous patients relax and get beneficial dental care.
