No matter how far afield Dr. John Miller went for his extensive dental training, his heart has always remained in South Carolina! So that is where he established his two dental offices: in Georgetown, SC and Murrells Inlet, SC.
Born in Georgetown, Dr. Miller attended local schools in kindergarten through 12th grade. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Francis Marion College and attended the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine. After completing his doctorate in dental medicine (DMD) in 1988, Dr. Miller started his practice in Georgetown.
With the growth of his practice, he opened a second location in Murrells Inlet in 2008. Dr. Miller brought on a dentist from Pawleys Island, Dr. Chris Cerasaro, and together they provide advanced dental care to the residents of coastal South Carolina.
Dr. Miller’s post-doctoral training includes many different areas of dentistry, such as dental implant surgery, Invisalign orthodontics, laser surgery, conscious sedation, and cosmetics. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, and the Pee Dee District Dental Society.
Dr. Miller lives near Georgetown with his wife, Kristi, a Family Nurse Practitioner, and their three sons. The entire family enjoys the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and scuba diving. Dr. Miller served as Scoutmaster for the Pawleys Island Boy Scouts. His two oldest sons are Eagle Scouts, and the youngest is working on his requirements for Eagle.

Dr. Cerasaro was born and raised locally here in Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet. He graduated from Waccamaw High School in 2005 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in biology from College of Charleston in 2009. Next, Dr. Cerasaro earned his DMD from the Medical University of South Carolina School of Dental Medicine in 2014. Since then, he has been working for Dr. Miller at The Smile Center.
Dr. Cerasaro’s interest in dentistry initially came from his younger years at his childhood dentist’s office. He was very inquisitive and interested in everything about the office. He also saw how happy his dentist was all the time and remembered wanting to be that happy at work! As the years went on, Dr. Cerasaro shadowed multiple dentists and went on mission trips, which only fortified his interest. To him, dentistry is the perfect combination of being able to enjoy himself while helping people, working with his hands, and feeling very rewarded every day at work because he feels as if he’s made a difference in someone’s life, no matter how small or large.
Patients love that Dr. Cerasaro is constantly making them laugh and always has a smile on his face. He always tries his best to keep patients not only very comfortable but also entertained so they can feel as relaxed as possible. Dr. Cerasaro does his best to get to know who patients are as people, not just as patients. This approach gives Dr. Cerasaro a way of getting to know you better, and he feels that this makes him a better dentist to each person. By appreciating what you want out of your dentist, Dr. Cerasaro can customize care specifically to you and your family.
Dr. Cerasaro’s favorite part of his job is the look on a patient’s face when they are happy with how he has helped them. He says, “There is no better feeling than when you have helped someone so much that you can feel and see their excitement and appreciation for everything you have done for them.”
In addition to his dedication to patients, Dr. Cerasaro is always improving his craft as a member of the ADA, SCDA, and Grand Strand Dental Society. He has traveled on dental mission trips to Haiti and the Dominican Republic performing cleanings, extractions, and restorative dentistry. Dr. Cerasaro currently works as a dental volunteer at Helping Hands Dental Clinic performing extractions at no charge for low-income families. He has also completed extensive continuing education in conscious sedation dentistry in an effort to help anxious patients.
In his free time, Dr. Cerasaro loves spending as much time as possible outside. Whether that be sailing, boating, snow skiing, fishing, hunting, or just relaxing with friends on the beach, there is no better way for Dr. Cerasaro to spend free time than doing what he loves with the ones closest to him: his family and friends!
